Exhibition «Dickens & London» at the Museum of London, carried out with Greek participations
Athens10.02.2012

The exhibition titled “Dickens & London”, hosted by the Museum of London to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens, has many surprises in store. Objects, photographs, paintings and objects from the Museum’s collection illustrating the themes that Dickens incorporated in his works, along with rare manuscripts of the author offer a visitor clues to Dickens’ creative genius.

The exhibition celebrating 200 years since the birth of Charles Dickens, has been carried out with Greek participations too, as three members of the team responsible for the planning, organization and implementation of the exhibition are Greeks working for the Museum of London; Elpiniki Psalti, who is responsible for the organization, planning and implementation of major exhibitions, Eleni Ganiari, deputy director of the maintenance department and Nikos Gogolos, responsible for all object lending procedures to other museums.

“The exhibition focuses on Dickens’ imagination through his relationship with London, the city – his muse, in addition to the way it influenced his work”, states Elpiniki Psalti to ANAMPA, who was responsible for the coordination and organization of the exhibition.

Asked on the possibility of the exhibition reaching Greece, the curator from Thessaloniki could not hide her joy, stating “we will gladly discuss it if there is interest from a Greek organization. Of course planning and organization must be conducted from scratch”.
