Constantinos Vavouskos, former Chairman of the Society for Macedonian Studies, emeritus professor of the Law School of Aristotle University, Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and corresponding member of the Academy of Athens, today “departed” this life.
The funeral service will be officiated at the Church of Agia Sofia tomorrow, Saturday at 11 am and the funeral speech will be delivered by the present Chairman of the Society for Macedonian Studies, Nikolaos Mertzos.
Constantinos Vavouskos, who has been honored for his contribution with high distinctions, leaves his vast scientific and national work behind, according to the obituary published by the Society for Macedonian Studies.
By resolution of the Administrative Board of the Society expressed the “respect and gratitude of the 910 members to the eminent Macedonian fighter and prudent legal expert” and announced a three-day bereavement in memory of Constantinos Vavouskos, raising the Society’s flags at half-staff.
The Board also decided to establish a yearly scholarship for young scientists researching the History of Macedonia.
