The Greek Solidarity Foundation, recently established in New York will be taking action to assist vulnerable groups in Greece.
According to a notice issued by the charitable organization, the foundation aims to relieve vulnerable groups in Greece, suffering from the unprecedented economic crisis. As it is stressed, the Foundation was established at the initiative of Greek community members interested in actively responding to Greece’s current needs in the areas of nutrition and health.
Representatives of the Foundation are visiting Greece at their own expenses to deliver packaged basic nutrition goods to families in need, as it is noted, while all foods provided are in accordance with the classic Mediterranean diet and purchased in our country. Packaging and distribution are carried out locally by volunteers.
Subsequently, it is noted that recipients are selected through the Foundation’s communication with individuals and organizations in Greece, performing charitable work.
Lastly, it is underlined that “the Greek Solidarity Foundation is independent and runs according to the laws of the State of New York. Management is conducted by the Administrative Council, consisting of Greek – Americans who do not represent the interests of other organizations or bodies. The entire effort is based on voluntary work, so that any contribution is exclusively allocated towards the charitable work of the foundation”.
