Students excelling in the fields of science and arts were honored on Friday evening in a special ceremony held at the foyer of McGill University, by the Hellenic Scholarship Foundation, offering scholarships to eight students of Greek descent.
As the president of the Foundation, Dr. Nikos Hadjinikolaou stated, the Foundation awarded “those who will be tomorrow’s pioneers in the scientific, academic and professional field, and will represent us as the leaders of tomorrow’s society, worthy successors of the Hellenic culture”.
The following students were awarded this year: Demetrios Koutsinos, post graduate medical student at the University of McGill, Josh El Debbs, law student at the University of Montreal, Katerina Frangos, student of economics at Concordia University, Angelos Georgiou, philosophy student at the University of Montreal, Constantinos Capsis, post graduate student at the engineering department of Concordia University, Angeliki Makri, post graduate Medical School student, Markos Maniakas, musical studies student in Concordia University and Audrey Olin Sotriadi, Communications student at Concordia University.
In this year’s event, two new scholarships were announced for the next year; a scholarship in the name of late educator, Constantina Frangouli, addressed to female students from Greece studying in Montreal and the scholarship of the Public Road and Bridge Construction Service, announced by director Eleni Christodoulou.
