MSNBC Host Chris Matthews to Emcee Oxi Day Black Tie Dinner

September 19, 2011 – MSNBC host and author Chris Matthews will serve as master of ceremonies at the first annual Washington Oxi Day Black Tie Dinner on October 27th at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, DC.

Matthews is host of the MSNBC talk show Hardball and a former presidential speechwriter, Congressional aide and print journalist.

He is also the author of the soon to be released book Jack Kennedy: Elusive Hero.

At this event, the Oxi Day Foundation will be honoring one man and one woman with Oxi Day Awards to recognize their courageous action in recent times to protect, promote or acquire freedom and democracy. The event will also celebrate the David vs. Goliath story of Greece inflicting a fatal wound that was instrumental to the defeat of the Axis Forces in WWII and the incredible courage displayed by the Greek people.

The award recipients have been selected from nominations submitted by leaders of nonprofit organizations with expertise on these subjects, think tanks and American policymakers, including the Chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

These policymakers and opinion leaders are engaging in this effort to recognize such bravery today as they learn about the great debt owed to the Greek people for saving the world from Nazi domination by inflicting a fatal wound on Axis forces during a crucial moment in World War II.
