Greek Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Demetris Dollis, has been in constant contact since yesterday with the President of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE), Mr. Stefanos Tamvakis, in regard to the tragic events occurring in the past few days in Egypt.
In his statements to ANA – MPA, the President of SAE stated that he had two telephone contacts with Mr. D. Dollis who stressed on his part that he is closely following the developments and remains at the disposal of Greeks in Egypt for anything needed.
On his part, Mr. Tamvakis is in constant communication with the Greek Community in Alexandria and its President, Yannis Siokas, as well as the Greek Community of Cairo and its President Christos Kavalis.
At the same time, the President of SAE visited the Greek Home of the Aged in Alexandria to check if all is going well in the foundation, in light of the difficult circumstances the country is currently in.
Possibly tomorrow an extraordinary committee will be holding a session in Alexandria to discuss how Hellenism is dealing with the current situation.
