South Africa Youth at the annual Ball of the Botswana Greek Community

Like every year, the Greek Community of Botswana organized its annual fundraising ball, in order to raise funds for purchasing land and the construction of a school and church.

The ball was crowned with success, attended by representatives of the Greek youth from many cities of South Africa who actively participated in the event. The good news is that the Board of Directors is already close to its goal for purchasing land. Mr. George Mazarakis, TV producter of South Africa was the honorary guest and keynote speaker at the event. The presence of youth from South Africa, gave a special note of optimism to the event.

The following day, the youth of S. Africa met with young Greeks in Botswana, whereby they exchanged views and held discussions on issues of concern, while they informed them on the SAE Youth Campaign “Unite the Marbles”.

The serious efforts of the Greek Community of Botswana have also been noticed by His Divine Beatitude, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, Theodore II, who proceeded to the establishment of the Diocese in Botswana, appointing His Grace Gennadios as Provincial Bishop of Botswana. SAE Africa – M. East Region wishes His Grace every success and strength in his work and expresses its support.
