The 31st Homeric Prize of the Chian Federation was awarded to the President of the World Coordinating Committee “Justice for Cyprus” (PSEKA), Phillip Christopher, who is keeping Greek issues “alive” in the U.S., as it was stated by speakers.
Former U.S. Senator Paul Sarbanes, Representative John Sarbanes, newly elected state senators of New York, Michael Giannaris and Tony Avella, new members of the state House of Representatives, Aravella Simota and Nicole Malliotakis, New York City Comptroller John C. Liu, the Consuls General of Greece and Cyprus, Agi Balta and Koula Sofianou, respectively, the Supreme President of AHEPA, Nikos Karakostas, the President of the Chian Federation, Evangelos Kavvadas and co-chairmen of the organizational committee, Nikos Rallis and Alexandros Doulis, spoke of the honoree. They particularly noted the fact that Phillip Christopher is the “driving force” of Hellenism in America for the defense of our national interests in Washington.
Upon receiving the Homeric Prize, Mr. Christopher mentioned that he accepts the award in memory of his parents who were not able to return to their city, the enclaved Kyrenia. The President of PSEKA and the Pancypriot Association of America also stressed that “despite the difficulties we are faced with, we will continue our struggle for the liberation of Cyprus and for the protection of Greece’s national sovereign rights”.
