The Cyprus issue remains a key priority for Hellenism until the final justification of the people of Cyprus.
These days, memories of the grievous anniversary of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus come back to life. Days for paying tribute to the heroic people of Cyprus, but mostly for reflection on our responsibility towards them.
For 36 years, the Turkish side, in defiance of International Law, violates the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, violates human rights and fundamental freedoms of Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot people, offends the memory of the dead and missing persons and destroys the cultural heritage of Cyprus.
On the 21st century, the USA and the European Community can no longer keep their eyes shut to the presence of the occupation troops in Cyprus and the violation of any notion of international law, because they violate the ideas and principles that lie in the heart of their own set of values.
The country we reside, America, is a land of freedom. It believes and defends human rights worldwide. We reserve the right, the power and obligation, as American citizens to demand from the US Government to impose pressure and influence on Ankara in order to break their affect their incompliance and abandon its barren policy. In this context SAE USA Region supports every effort and initiative of the Cyprus Federation of America and PSEKA for the promotion of justice for the people of Cyprus and to inform the political world of America.
Hellenism worldwide, with its coordinated actions towards a common goal, achieved the cancellation of the scheduled concert of the renowned singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez, for the 24th of July in the occupied territory of Cyprus. This proves that when we join forces under a common aim, we can succeed.
We will truly honor the memory of the fallen who defended the independence of Cyprus, if we stand united and join forces to fight for a just and viable resolution of the Cyprus issue, which will end the occupation and restore the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all the Cypriot people, both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots.
The Cyprus issue remains a key priority for Hellenism, until the final justification of the people of Cyprus.
