With the customary National Memorial for all those who heroically died during the treacherous coup and the Turkish invasion of Cyprus, the Greek American Community honors and commemorates the “black anniversaries” of Cyprus of July 1974. The Cyprus Federation of America and PSEKA will conduct a memorial service on Sunday 18th of July, at the Church of St. Catherine in Astoria. The Memorial Service will be celebrated by the Archbishop of America, Dimitrios and an event will follow whereby, apart from the Archbishop, the Consul General of Cyprus, Koula Sophianou and the President of PSEKA and Cyprus Federation of America, Panikos Papanikolaou and Philip Christopher will also address speeches.
A delegation of the Cyprus Federation of America and PSEKA will be in Washington on the 20th and 21st of July, whereby a special event will be held in the Congress, in the presence of congressmen and senators.
“We have already arranged meetings with many members of the Congress and Senate. We are also organizing an event at the Congress whereby many of its members will be attending. In all meetings we will talk about Cyprus and inform them on the latest developments on the issue. Furthermore we await the confirmation of a number of meetings we have requested from the State Department and the National Security Council” stated the President of the Cyprus Federation of America, Panikos Papanikoloau to Greek News.
