World Hellenic Inter – Parliamentary Association, WHIA
“You find us in a period of struggle, the people of Greece are making efforts to emerge from this major crisis, and I believe that all of you share our agony”, stressed the President of the Republic of Greece Karolos Papoulias, welcoming yesterday the Board of the World Hellenic Inter – Parliamentary Association (WHIA), made up of Giannis Pantazopoulos – President, MP of Victoria, Australia, George Chatzimarkakis – Vice President, MEP of Germany and George Souris – Treasurer and MP of New South Wales.
On his part, the President of the Board and MP Giannis Pantazopoulos, implied that Greece is regaining credibility abroad and noted that “what makes us happy, during the days of our visit in Greece, is that we are see something steady coming from the Greek government” and noted that the efforts being made by the Prime Minister and responsible Minister have a positive impact abroad, which is something that makes Hellenes abroad content.
Meanwhile, Mr. Pantazopoulos, expressed the question of thousands of Greeks abroad, on “what they can do to help Greece’ and noted that the Board of the WHIA urges them to help support the Solidarity Account which has been recently set up towards this end.
The Board of WHIA also had a meeting with the Speaker of the Greek Parliament, Mr. Phillipos Petsalnikos. The meeting was attended by the 1st Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament, Mr. Grigoris Niotis and the President of the Committee of Hellenism of the Diaspora, Ms. Elpida Tsouri.
