A month later, under the bright blue sky of Montreal, Greek Canadians celebrated on Sunday the anniversary for the 25th of March with a glorious parade in the “Greek occupied” avenue of Jean Talon. The Mayor of Montreal, Gerard Tremblay and other politicians from Canada and Quebec, as well as representatives of the Diaspora, were present in the event.
Around 3000 people, students, veterans of the 2nd World War, people of the resistance and members of national regional associations, took part in the parade, which brought together all ages, dressed in traditional uniforms.
The parade was attended, among others, by the Consul General of Greece in Montreal, Karnoutsou Maria, the Mayor of Montreal Gerard Tremblay, the Ambassador of Greece in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Harris Manessis, the federal MP Justin Trudeau, the provincial MP Jerry Sklavounos, Senator Leo Housakos, City Councillors Hellen Photopoulos and Mary Deros, the President of the Greek Community, Billy Balabanos and other Presidents of communities and national regional associations.
The day ended with a big reception, held in the Greek Community centre, which was organized by the Greek Community of Montreal, in the presence of Diaspora representatives and many attendants.
