From the New Museum of Acropolis which “awaits” the repatriation of the Parthenon Marbles, the Youth Networks of SAE Regions launched their campaign for the collection of signatures worldwide, through their website: www.unitethemarbles.org.
At noon, the youths who participated in the 1st meeting of the Coordinating Councils of SAE Youth Networks in Thessaloniki, had the opportunity to admire the Museum and be guided by the Head of the Museum, Professor Dimitris Pantermalis. In their visit they were accompanied by the President of SAE Mr. Tamvakis and the Coordinators of USA region and Canada, Mr. Theodoros Spiropoulos and Mr. Kostas menegakis respectively.
After their visit in the Museum the Coordinators of the seven SAE Youth Networks had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ms Angela Gerekou, who was informed on their initiative.
Ms Gerekou congratulated the Youths for their initiative by stressing that the Greek Diaspora and especially the Youth are ambassadors of our country worldwide. She also expressed her belief that the cooperation with the SAE Regions Youth Networks will continue in multiple levels and will be exceptionally fruitful not only in civilization matters but also for the promotion of tourism worldwide.
“The online initiative which was taken over by the Youth Networks of SAE for the promotion of their petition to repatriate the Marbles of the Parthenon, makes us feel proud and responsible at the same time” pointed out Ms. Gerekou in her statements and she assured them that the fight will not cease with the collaboration of all Greeks worldwide and in Greece and stated that “we will continue this fight with all citizens of this world who consider our petition fair and support our efforts. And also we hope that soon Melina Merkouri’s vision will be realized and that the Marbles will return to their home. Now they have a home, the New Museum of the Acropolis”
In the meeting the General Secretary of Tourism Mr. Poussaios and the President of SAE were also present.
