The “Hellenos House”, the first group house for Orthodox Christians with developmental disabilities in New York, was described by Archbishop Demetrios of America as a great gift for children with disabilities speaking in the traditional blessing ceremony held on the occasion of the institution’s formal opening.

The institution is in operation since September, a creation of the “Challenge Liturgy Program” of the Archangel Michael Community in Long Island and its Charitable Society in cooperation with the “Association for Children with Down Syndrome”.

Seven children, boys and girls, with disabilities are currently staying at the Hellenos House which is funded by the State of New York.
