The SAE Africa/Near-Middle East 2nd Regional Convention opens tomorrow in Alexandria in the presence of over 50 representatives of Hellenism in Africa, members of the Greek Parliament and representatives of the General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and SAE.
Until October 14 delegates will be discussing the major problems facing the Greek communities in the African continent, Near and Middle East.
The regional convention Rules of Procedure will be adopted on October 11, its Presiding Board will be elected and Regional Coordinator Charis Gouvelis will present an account of SAE’s actions in the Region.
The delegates will focus of the issues of education, the voting rights of the Greeks abroad and SAE’s efforts aimed at providing the best possible care to fellow Greek expatriates in need, while a special reference will be made to SAE Networks and the sector of communication.
Participants are scheduled to visit the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Greek Quarter of Chatby and the house of poet Constantine Cavafy that has become a museum.
