Preparations for the SAE Africa/Near-Middle East Regional Convention, to take place in Alexandria on October 10-14, have entered the final stretch.
Proceedings will formally open on October 10 in the presence of SAE President Stefanos Tamvakis, while invited to attend is Deputy Foreign Minister Theodoros Kassimis, responsible for Greeks abroad.
On October 11, the SAE Africa/Near-Middle East Regional Convention Rules of Operation will be approved, in addition to the election of the convention’s presidium and the presentation of the region’s activities by Regional Coordinator Charis Gouvelis.
Delegates will focus on crucial issues such as education, the voting rights of the Greeks abroad, SAE’s relief efforts for the expatriates in need as well as issues concerning the SAE Networks and the communication sector. They will also visit the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the Greek Quarter and the house of poet Cavafy.
