Ways to effectively support the creativity of the Greeks abroad, who honor and bring Greece to the spotlight through their notable work, as well as the international promotion of the Greek capital city through events that can be jointly hosted by SAE and the municipality of Athens, were the main issues discussed in the meeting of World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) President Stefanos Tamvakis with Mayor of Athens Nikitas Kaklamanis.
The proposals discussed and agreed upon concerned the hosting of successive conventions by the Chairs of Greek Studies and distinguished Greek expatriate scientists, the exchange programme with Greek schools abroad and the support of Greek artists participating in international events.
The meeting was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere and marked the start of constructive cooperation between SAE and the municipality of Athens in an effort aimed at spreading the Greek language and culture.
The SAE president also met with Foundation for the Hellenic World (FHW) President Lazaros Efraimoglou at the “Hellenic Cosmos” Cultural Center.
After being briefed on the notable and internationally recognized work done by the institute, he expressed interest in developing creative cooperation contributing to SAE’s objective to keep a record of the Greek expatriates and preserve and spread the Greek History and Education via the internet.
