SAE Europe Regional Coordinator attends events of the Federation of Greek Communities in the Czech Republic and the Extraordinary Congress of the International Confederation of Pontian Greeks.
SAE Europe Regional Coordinator Giorgos Amarantidis attended the successfully held events organized by the Federation of Greek Communities in the Czech Republic that took place in Ostrava.
The events were held on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Greeks’ arrival in the Czech Republic after leaving Greece as refugees due to the civil war.
Amarantidis conveyed the greetings of the Regional Coordinating Council and congratulated the Federation for its important initiative and major work accomplished over the years. During the events, attended by SAE Europe Coordinating Council member Kosmas Loutsopoulos, those present were briefed on the Region’s activities.
“The efforts made everyday by all of you living in the Czech Republic are known. You deserve many congratulations for your work and service!” stressed the Regional Coordinator, pointing out that “above all you deserve the support of all of us regardless of where we live and how many kilometers are between us.”
Amarantidis concluded his speech by saying that the SAE Europe Region will continue to engage in creative cooperation with all Federations in Europe contributing decisively to the efforts made for the benefit of the Diaspora Greeks.
Representing the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) President, Amarantidis attended festivities held in honor of Greek Cosmonaut Fyodor N. Yurchikhin Grammatikopoulos hosted by the International Confederation of Pontian Greeks within the framework of its Extraordinary Congress in Athens.
Europe Regional Coordinator congratulated the congress organizers and highlighted the major importance of united Pontian forces, an endeavor launched years ago and materialized in their recent congress.
“SAE supports the proposal made by the Federations of the Diaspora Pontians to establish Pontian Studies Chairs where postgraduate students will prepare treatises on Pontian history,” stressed Amarantidis in his brief message.
For the record, the mobilization of all SAE Europe Regional Coordinating Council members is notable responding to all invitations received by the Region even during the summer holidays.
The goal of the 11-member Council is to utilize all potential for mutual information, exchange of viewpoints, action coordination and the strengthening of the Diaspora Greeks.
