Greek children from all parts of the world come together during the summer within the framework of the General Secretariat for the Greeks Abroad (GGAE) International Hospitality Programme.
The children stay at GGAE camping sites where they have the opportunity to reinforce their cultural identity and become reacquainted with their country of origin.
Roughly 700 Greek expatriate children, aged between 8 and 12, will attend this year’s hospitality programme that will take place during two camping periods: July 7 – July 26 and August 4 – August 23.
The children will be staying at the GGAE camping sites in Epanomi, Thessaloniki Prefecture and Malesina, Fthiotida Prefecture. Both camping sites are next to the sea allowing them to enjoy various activities in a friendly and safe environment.
The programme includes:
• Greek language, history and mythology lessons
• Field trips and visits to historical and archaeological sites and museums
• Teaching of traditional dances, songs and theater
• Music concerts and cultural events
• Sports, painting and handicraft workshops
All expenditures are covered by the GGAE. For more information those interested can contact the local Greek diplomatic authorities where they can file an application for participation and submit all necessary documents.
