Regional Coordinating Council holds two-day meeting

SAE Europe Regional Coordinating Council convened on March 1 and 2 at the region’s offices in Frankfurt.

The Regional Coordinator briefed members on the actions currently underway as regards the preparatory conferences and the Pan-European Conference on Greek-speaking Education. The first two preparatory conferences will take place on March 8 and 9 in Cologne and Stuttgart respectively. They will be followed by other three such events in Belgium, Sweden and an eastern European country. The preparatory conferences are being held in cooperation of the Federations of Greek Communities, OEK, in Germany, Belgium and Sweden.

The Pan-European Conference on Greek-speaking Education will be held in Frankfurt in the spring after the preparatory conferences phase is completed.

An important issue examined in the two-day meeting concerned Youth organizing and networking. It was stressed that the participation and cooperation of all competent institutions is necessary in the effort to activate the young.

The Coordinating Council is already cooperating with institutions in Europe to host Youth Conferences in all federations and states in an effort that will culminate with the Regional Youth Conference in September to elect the Youth Coordinating Committee.

The Regional Convention to be held in Frankfurt on October 24-26, 2008 was also discussed.

The Coordinating Council members agreed that all Regional Committees will meet soon to become better and more effectively activated and have the opportunity to plan and materialize specific actions.
