Governor of Alexandria Adel Labib in the meeting he had with SAE President Stefanos Tamvakis stressed that he is proud of the fact that a Greek from Alexandria has risen to the presidency of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad.
In the warm reception reserved for the SAE president, the Egyptian official praised the local Greek community pointing out that the city’s strong brotherly ties with Greece go back for centuries. Governor Labib also expressed unreserved support to the efforts promoting bilateral relations between Greece and Egypt constructively projecting their cultures and values.
On his part, the SAE president expressed satisfaction for the meeting stressing that it will serve as a basis in the efforts to renew inter-cultural dialogue between two of the oldest and most important civilizations in the world.
Among the issues discussed were SAE’s actions, cooperation on culture, tourism and youth issues and the strengthening of relations between the Sister Cities of Thessaloniki and Alexandria.
