The 2nd Regional Assembly of the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) for Africa-Near/Middle East will be held in Alexandria, Egypt in October. The issue was discussed in the meetings SAE Africa-Near/Middle East Regional Coordinator Charis Gouvelis had on January 13 in Egypt with SAE President Stefanos Tamvakis and Greek community representatives among them Alexandria Greek community vice-president Dimitris Vafiadis and SAE members Michalis Arslanidis, Andreas Vafiadis and Nikolas Kopelos.
In the 2nd Regional Assembly for SAE Africa-Near/Middle East will be represented all countries in the region with Greek communities.
The 1st assembly meeting was held last October in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Gouvelis will be received in Cairo today by Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and discuss the latest developments concerning the situation of the Greeks in Kenya, a country ravaged by civil war, while later he is scheduled to meet with Greek Community of Cairo President Christos Kavalis.
Charis Gouvelis will be serving as SAE Deputy President throughout the first half of 2008.
