Speak Greek – Live Greek
The spread of the Greek language and in effect the spread of Greek culture in combination with the use and knowledge of new technologies worldwide constitute the programme’s motivation and basis.
In this context, the World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) and the Hellenic Regional Development Centre (HRDC) cooperate in the materialization of the “SPEAK GREEK – LIVE GREEK” programme. This notable endeavor is under the auspices of the Greek Foreign Ministry and the Greek UNESCO Committee while enjoying the unreserved support of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the cooperation of Academic Institutions.
The initiative belongs to SAE President Stefanos Tamvakis and its materialization offers FREE access to this source of knowledge to all those interested in acquiring it worldwide.
The programme’s objective is the teaching of the Greek language to Greeks of the Diaspora and mainly to foreigners to be able to communicate in a Greek environment both in terms of language and culture.
The programme is based on two axes. The first, which attracted most of the attention because it serves the main goal of the project, is the educational content distinguished into two levels (beginners and advanced) each divided into 25 chapters. It is worth noted that the teaching material is offered in English, Russian and Spanish. Here those interested in learning Greek can register to have access to the online language learning programme.
The second axis is the portal which provides information on the Greek History and Culture, the music and tourism in Greece. Therefore, the project constitutes a presentation of the Greek Culture, the language being an integral part, and is not just another Greek language learning method.
The programme uses e-learning methods offering distance learning students access to teaching material (regardless of where they are). The online language teaching material is offered in multimedia form comprising texts, images, animation, and audio and speaking agents.
It is a dynamic application that can constantly receive new data (exercises, grammar, texts, examples, etc) which is very important considering the broadness and richness of the Greek language.
