Greek Ambassador Alexandros Mallias was honored in Chicago Friday at a dinner with Chicago businessmen hosted by Theodore G. Spyropoulos, president of the World Council of Hellenes / SAE USA.
“We have experienced excellent cooperation in all our combined activities with Mr. Mallias, and therefore it is our honor and pleasure to be with him and to discuss issues vital to American Hellenes,” Mr. Spyropoulos said.
In the discussion period that followed dinner, Mr. Mallias expressed his appreciation for the contributions of the Hellenic American community and the unique role it plays on the political stage of Washington, DC, whenever Greek Americans petition their government on issues of the Omogeneia.
Among businessmen and professionals participating at the dinner were Aristotle Halikias, president of the Hellenic Museum and Cultural Center; Chris P. Tomaras, president of PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation; Vassilis Bebonis, president of Neo Kyma Messinias; attorney Endy Zemenides; attorney Mariana Spyropoulos;
Panayiotis Evangelou, president of the PanArcadian Federation; Gregory Pappas, representing Calamos Investments; Dimitris Kourkouvis, and Kostas Lemos. Ambassador Anastasios Petrovas, Consul General of Greece in Chicago, and Mrs. Vassiliki Grivitsopoulou-Lemou, Vice Consul, were also present at the dinner.
