SAE: Advisory and Consultative Body to the Hellenic State
The World Council of Hellenes Abroad (SAE) as defined by article 108, paragraph 2 of the Constitution serves as a consultative, advisory, assertive and supportive body to the Greek State having as a mission to be the voice of World Hellenism.
Exercises the consultative and advisory role on issues concerning the Greeks abroad:
a) Preserves the Greek language and cultural identity of the Greeks abroad.
b) Reinforces ties between the Greeks abroad and the homeland, and among the Greek community members in their host countries.
c) Handles military service and social security issues for the Greeks abroad.
d) Works for better and stronger relations between the host countries and Greece.
SAE prepares recommendations and proposals on issues concerning the Greeks abroad in the host countries and corresponding geographic Regions.
SAE has forged ties and cooperates with the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Old Patriarchates and the Orthodox Church in general.
